Do you want to put your skills to work for a better world, where avoidable blindness no longer limits people’s opportunities? Our Eye Care Foundation (ECF) has given many millions of eye patients a better life during our 40 years of operation. We are currently working in Vietnam, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos and Tanzania and expansion of our area of activity in the future is not out of the question. From our office in Amsterdam we facilitate the teams abroad. By July 1 or as much earlier as possible we hope to have found a new colleague:

Head of Finance (M/F/X)

24 – 32 hours per week (89%) – (with the prospect of appointment for) indefinite period of time

About the team
Our valued colleagues abroad number 20. With them we work on our mission: to ensure equal opportunities to receive eye care through projects, so that everyone can build their future with good eyesight. The team in Amsterdam is relatively small (about 10 team members). Besides the CEO we have colleagues in fundraising, communication, quality and back office. We have short lines of communication, work in two office units on the third floor of Capital C, which we share with all kinds of young companies, such as Amsterdam Light Festival, Light Art Collection, Signify and Amsterdam Art Week. We supplement the permanent staff with freelancers during peaks in work, or when we need specialist knowledge. Our organization is further supported by a large pool of Medical Advisors. We are seeking a new colleague who will collaborate with a financial support staff member.

What will you be doing
As the person ultimately responsible, you are mainly responsible for policy and your duties include controlling. For ICT, Facilities and HR we have the convenience of external support, which you and your colleague at Finance manage. At Finance, you are the first point of contact for colleagues and the CEO. You have frequent contact with colleagues abroad and you also regularly seek out the Fundraisers for coordination. Treasury, risk management, budgeting, financial reporting, the annual accounts and contacts with the auditors fall under your responsibility. Both internal control and identifying opportunities and contributing to improvement/renewal are in your blood. We have also included the role of Privacy Officer in this position.
Of course we are curious about your insights regarding the organization of our work. Within ECF, like any other team member, you are a sparring partner for your colleagues. Our core values are collegiality, customer orientation, result orientation, independence and cooperation.

We are searching for someone who…

  • operates at least at a higher professional level and is financially educated;
  • is enterprising, can work independently, but also seeks cooperation with colleagues;
  • has at least five years of experience in a similar position;
  • if possible also has experience working within an international team;
  • and with advising a Management Team and Supervisory Board within the charitable sector and is therefore
  • also aware of laws and regulations and governance;
  • has some knowledge of ICT, HR, data processing and the AVG;
  • is result-oriented and also numerically literate;
  • has an excellent command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing;
  • and can work with the Office packages Word and Excel.

We offer…
A dynamic job replacing one of our colleagues for 32 hours per week, within a relatively small, international team (about 30 colleagues). We work in the buzzing Capital C building at Weesperplein in Amsterdam. Your salary will be, depending on your experience, between € 3,970 and € 6,061 gross per month (on a full-time basis). You are entitled to, among other things, five weeks of vacation per calendar year, 8% vacation pay, 8.3% year-end bonus, a laptop and cellphone allowance, travel allowance (from 10 kilometers), pension insurance and disability insurance.
Working from home is certainly possible and working hours are flexible and can be determined in consultation with the team. Furthermore, we want to emphasize that your development and job satisfaction are very important to us. We work with motivational profiles to empower everyone and improve cooperation and communication.
