Ambassador Eye Care Foundation

“People need their sight to be able to live and participate.”

“Since 2019, I have been an ambassador for Eye Care Foundation. Without glasses, I wouldn’t have made it through secondary school. After my student years, I switched to contact lenses, but I still kept my glasses on hand from time to time for a change. When I started presenting for Studio Sport, I began to play around with that variation. Because I often left my glasses somewhere or lost them, opticians started to notice. As a result, I was regularly given a new pair of frames. Although I haven’t worn glasses since 2005 because I had laser eye surgery, people still sometimes refer to me as ‘that guy with the glasses’. And it’s actually true again, because I now need reading glasses. I really do see that as a limitation—without them, I can’t do anything. Such a simple solution for just a few euros.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to hardly be able to see, whether at a distance or up close. People need their sight to be able to live and participate. For us, it’s normal to visit an eye doctor or optician. That should be the case for everyone in the world. That’s why I am an ambassador for Eye Care Foundation. They give people the chance of a better life through sight, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute to that.”
