Visual handicaps and poverty

A staggering 89% of people with a visual handicap live in a country with limited access to medical care. In these countries, blindness leads to significant economic and social problems.
Blind people are often unable to work and have no income. This poverty creates a considerable distance between society and their community. Luckily, 80% of these cases are easily prevented or cured by cataract surgery or prescription glasses. Support us in helping people to reach their potential and to prevent vision impairment.

Insight into unnecessary blindness

  • Globally, there are 285 million people with a visual handicap
  • 80% of which are preventable or cured, for example, by cataract surgery or prescription eyeglasses
  • For € 35, you directly donate cataract surgery or an eye exam + prescription eyeglasses

Contribute to treating and curing

The available treatments that prevent and cure blindness are the most effective and cheapest measures in medical care. Eye Care Foundation envisions a world where unnecessary blindness no longer limits people’s possibilities. A world where unequal accessibility to excellent and attainable eye care is banished, and everyone can build a future with clear sight.

Donations make our work possible

Our activities for good eye care are possible through active funding. Eye Care Foundation runs entirely on donations, large and small. Donations make our work possible; without them, these regions have no opportunities for good eye care. We use our donations directly for all our activities.

Our activities are completely clear

Eye Care Foundation works on providing essential eye to vulnerable communities in Asian, African and South American countries. Our focus is on improving, preventing and curing. This is what we do:
  • Training local medical personnel and volunteers
  • Setting up field offices for general support and medical management
  • Building eye clinics at easy-to-reach locations

  • Donating medical eye care equipment

Together for better vision

Eye Care Foundation actively provides essential eye care to disadvantaged and disenfranchised communities in Asia, South America and Africa. With the support of monetary donations and the work of volunteers, our foundation offers eye exams, treatments, and operations to people who otherwise don’t have access to this crucial care. By working together and sharing knowledge, know-how and access – we can ensure a better vision for everyone.
