Our ambassador
Toine van Peperstraten
Ambassador Eye Care Foundation
“I have been an ambassador for the Eye Care Foundation since 2019. Without my prescription eyeglasses, I would not have been able to finish high school. After university, I chose to wear contact lenses, but I kept my glasses to switch sometimes. When I started to present Studio Sport, I switched a lot between both. The casualness of wearing glasses caught the attention of opticians, and I would regularly get frames sent for free. Though I haven’t worn eyeglasses since 2005, as I’ve lasered my eyes, people still often refer to me as “that guy with the specs”. And they are not completely wrong because I recently started to need reading glasses. I really find this a handicap. Without my reading glasses, I am helpless. It’s such a great solution for just a couple of euros. I can hardly imagine what it must be like to see or not see at all. Whether it’s up close or far away – people need their sight to be able to live and participate. For us, it’s normal to visit an ophthalmologist or optician. That should be the case for everyone in the world. That’s why I’m an ambassador for the Eye Care Foundation. They give people a view of a better life. It’s nice that I can contribute.”
