What we do

Eye Care Foundation makes eye care accessible—today and for the future.

How we improve eye care for the long term

Eye Care Foundation works towards sustainable access to eye care in countries where the need is greatest. We train local ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and volunteers, ensuring that knowledge and care remain in place, even after our support has ended.

In remote areas of Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Vietnam, and Tanzania, we build and support eye clinics equipped with modern ophthalmic equipment to reach the most vulnerable communities. In this way, we make eye examinations, glasses, and cataract surgeries accessible to everyone.

Our approach focuses on four pillars:

  • Providing care: organizing mobile eye camps for eye screenings, cataract and other eye surgeries, and providing glasses to those in need.
  • Training and education: training local ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, teachers, and volunteers to embed knowledge within communities.
  • Infrastructure: building and supporting eye clinics and equipping them with modern ophthalmic equipment and medical supplies.
  • Awareness and education: raising awareness about eye health among communities and governments.

With over 40,000 trainings delivered, 400 ophthalmologists trained, and 2,000 other professionals educated, we are steadily strengthening the quality of eye care in low- and middle-income countries. Together, we are building lasting eye care for better vision, now and in the future.
