The international organisation

The medical advisors of Eye Care Foundation are Dutch ophthalmologists who train and support local ophthalmologists, medical staff or volunteers globally. Together, they start and build eye clinics and eye camps in countries in Asia, South America, and Africa, from building to further expansion.

How we work in the world

Eye Care Foundation supports four Asian, two Southamerical and one African country in preventing and curing avoidable vision impairment and blindness. Some of these countries (Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal) have their own office with a local team – with offices working for multiple countries in their region. Fundraising and administration are done in The Netherlands.

All our activities:

  • Eye exams for elderly and schoolchildren
  • Training eye professionals on all levels
  • Training teachers and nursing staff to spot eye problems
  • Immediate eye care: like cataract surgeries, prescribing eyeglasses and performing simple surgical procedures
  • Contribute financially to the building and infrastructure of eye centres
  • Large financial contributions to equipment for eye clinics
  • Advocating eye within healthy policy and the health care system
  • Conduct population research on eye-related issues
  • Convince politicians and policymakers of the need for good eye care with evidential qualitative research

Donations make our work possible

Our activities for good eye care are possible through active funding. Eye Care Foundation runs entirely on donations, large and small. Donations make our work possible; without them, these regions have no opportunities for good eye care. We use our donations directly for all our activities.
