A personal initiative with wonderful results

01 December 2025

We sincerely thank Mrs. de Jong-Polman for her dedication and commitment over the past two decades!

Since 2004, Mrs. de Jong-Polman has supported the Eye Care Foundation by selling homemade jam. With this, she raises an average of €1,500 annually for the Eye Care Foundation. That’s more than twenty years of uninterrupted support!

She does all the work herself, even now that she’s reached a ripe old age. She gathers leftover fruit from growers in the Betuwe region and from Groentenhof Poelen, where there are pumpkins left over. She makes the jam and jars it. She also provides each jar with a beautiful ECF label with a brief information and a photo of what we do. Mrs. de Jong-Polman brings her homemade jam to Groentenhof Poelen, the Ravenswaard Cheese Farm, and her own women’s club for sale. And in a short time, she sells a lot, because the various types of jam (as well as jelly and chutney) are loved by many.

Her long-standing dedication is truly inspiring and demonstrates how one person’s passion can have a lasting impact on eye care in the countries where we operate.

It’s wonderful, Ms. de Jong-Polman, that you’re such a valued member of the ECF family!
