Eight Heemstede Residents Receive Royal Honors

During the annual Royal Decorations (Lintjesregen) ceremony, Mayor Falgun Binnendijk awarded eight Royal Honors to exceptional residents of Heemstede.

The ceremony took place at the town hall. Among the decorated individuals was Leendert Parlevliet.

Mr. L. (Leendert) Parlevliet (89) – Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau


Mr. Parlevliet is co-founder of the Eye Care Foundation (formerly Eye Camp Himalaya), which provides access to eye care in developing countries around the world.

He served as Executive Director and helped build an organization that has since helped millions of people. In addition, he held board positions with the Lions, ANVR, and IVN Zuid-Kennemerland.

His dedication to healthcare, nature, education, and sustainable development makes him an inspiring and highly respected individual.
