Eye Care Bloemendaal organized a sunglasses campaign for Eye Care Foundation
At various locations in the Netherlands – and therefore also in several towns and cities in North Holland – lively annual markets and fairs are organized, usually during the summer season. Colorful stalls with all kinds of goods attract many interested visitors everywhere.
It’s wonderful when you can fully enjoy them and, above all, see the great variety of what is being presented! Our eyes, one of the most precious senses of every human being and every animal.
Eye contact: the beginning of relationships. Having an eye for love, and for everyone’s safety, keeping a watchful eye. As long as you can see well – with or without the support of glasses or contact lenses – once again, as long as you can see well, you can visually enjoy nature, one another, films, and so much more.
In various countries around the world, people with limited or poor vision unfortunately still do not have access to glasses or lenses. For those living in difficult socio-economic and/or socio-cultural conditions, eye surgeries are often not possible.
During the Bloemendaal annual market, held last Sunday, 7 September, Eye Care Bloemendaal organized a sunglasses campaign for Eye Care Foundation. The proceeds from the sunglasses sales go directly to Eye Care Foundation.

Collaboration
Since March 2025, Eye Care Foundation has been a partner of EyeCare Groep. Together, Eye Care Foundation and EyeCare Groep are committed to preventing and curing avoidable blindness and vision impairment in developing countries. EyeCare Groep provides expertise, equipment, and funding, while Eye Care Foundation uses these resources to train more doctors, distribute glasses, and perform cataract surgeries.
Björn Stenvers, director of Eye Care Foundation:
“In the Netherlands, it is taken for granted that if you cannot see well, you can wear glasses or contact lenses. Unfortunately, in other countries this is not the case. Eye Care Foundation has been working for forty years to provide vision solutions in Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Tanzania. With this contribution, Eye Care Foundation can help 200 people. These are people living in remote mountain areas in Nepal without access to a good optician or ophthalmologist. A mobile eye team measures their eyes and distributes glasses. This way, children can go to school again and older people can continue to work.”
EyeCare Bloemendaal is one of more than 160 stores in the Netherlands and Belgium that belong to the EyeCare Groep and that actively raise funds for Eye Care Foundation.
