Our Journey to Review Activities in Ca Mau Province
Our CEO, Bjorn Stenver, along with Jop Bruin and our team in Vietnam, recently visited the Ca Mau Eye and Skin Hospital to check on the ongoing project for 2023-2025.
During our visit, we looked at how well the equipment sponsored by ECF is working. Dr. Huynh Trung Lam, the hospital director, shared how this equipment is making a difference. It helps provide timely eye exams and treatments, especially for school children, and offers free surgeries for children and elderly patients in need.
We also met patients who had recently had surgeries, and their smiles reminded us of why we do this work.
Seeing the positive impact of our partnership was truly heartwarming.
There is still a need to create a complete eye care center at the provincial level.
We also had a good meeting with Dr. Tran Quang Khoa, the Deputy Director of the Ca Mau Health Department. It felt great to reconnect with him, as he worked with us back in 2012.
We are thankful for his support and recognition of the importance of eye care for school children.
By 2025, the Eye and Skin Hospital plans to take over part of the Provincial General Hospital to expand its services. Dr. Khoa mentioned that they need help with training staff and providing equipment to set up a Pediatric Eye Unit. This unit will focus on treating children with eye problems in Ca Mau and nearby areas, while also improving community eye care for young kids.
As we look back on what we’ve achieved and the gaps we’ve filled, we feel excited about the work still to come.
Our partnership with local teams in Ca Mau is strong, and we look forward to supporting future projects to prevent blindness and improve eye care for everyone.
