Correction to article “In Nepal, ophthalmologist Parajuli fights preventable blindness – with help from Rotterdam”
20 August 2025
On July 5th, NRC published an extensive article about eye care in Nepal: “In Nepal, ophthalmologist Parajuli fights preventable blindness – with help from Rotterdam.”

We would like to correct an error in this article. On the first page, the section titled ‘Preventable blindness’ contains an inaccuracy. The text currently reads: ‘One in ten Nepalese is blind in both eyes; in some provinces, that figure is even one in five.’ This should be corrected to state: ‘One in a hundred Nepalese is blind in both eyes; in some provinces, that figure is even one in fifty.’ This data applies to individuals over the age of 50.
