Your impact in Tanzania: thanks to you, Mihambo is now an eye care specialist
In our mission to bring sight to the world, your support goes far beyond eye surgeries and glasses. You invest in people. In healthcare professionals who are there every day for their communities. One of them is Mihambo Charles, a nurse at Malinyi District Hospital in Tanzania.
Thanks to your involvement, Mihambo was given the opportunity to further specialize. He recently completed his training as a Clinical Ophthalmology Assistant at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University Centre. An important step, not only for Mihambo himself, but for everyone in his region who depends on eye care.
With his new skills, Mihambo returned to his community, where he now leads eye screenings and provides care to people who would otherwise have little or no access to treatment.
“We could not do this work without the support of caring people like you. Your support allows us to reach and screen many more eye patients, especially in remote areas where care is needed most.” Mihambo says.
More than sight
What touches Mihambo most is what eye care means for people after their treatment. He sees patients regain hope after cataract surgery — how they feel happier and more confident, and can once again fully participate in family and community life. Restoring sight often means restoring a future.
