Our project coordinator in Tanzania, Daniel Wildbard, attended a meeting with the Njombe Regional Eye Care Coordinator (RECC), Dr. Simon Luvanda. During the session, Dr. Simon emphasized the urgent need for the region to have more ophthalmic staff, equipment, and infrastructure to support the sufficient provision of eye care services. ECF Tanzania is looking for extra funds to help the region as part of its efforts to eliminate avoidable blindness and vision impairment in the country.

Njombe region is one of the 31 independent administrative regions of Tanzania. It was established in March 2012, demerging from the Iringa Region, with its capital in Njombe town. The newly established Njombe is an upcoming touristic area ideal for domestic and international visits to the southern highlands of Tanzania.
